Tamalyn Hyde is a multidisciplinary artist pushing personal and creative boundaries that only elaborate on her diversity and skill set. She advocates ideologies of female identity within roles of motherhood, societal feminisation and sexuality.
After studying at the prestigious Chelsea College of Art and Design and the Glasgow School of Art, Tamalyn took time out to raise her family.
Tamalyn is an active member of the Art House Project and has played a key role in a number of their exhibitions. She has also exhibited with We Are Sweet Art, Artistic UK and recently donated some of her artwork to the VAfrica Show – a non-profit initiative to raise money for charitable causes in Sierra Leone.
Tamalyn first started drawing Shibari under the pseudonym Lahu as a way of challenging herself to draw faster and more fluidly, but was Immediately captivated by the beauty of the poses and the intense emotional connection between the rigger and the model. Initially drawing very elegant and simple line work, this piece entitled “Spinning Away From The Gaze Of Men” is a detailed oil painting on a spinning wooden spiral. The name is a reference to Naomi Wolf, and the piece is a celebration of female sexuality without fear of judgement.
